My last post was about the 10k (6.2 mi) trail race I am going to run this Saturday. Weeeelllll...I have chickened out and decided to run the 5 k (3.1 mi) instead. I may train for a couple of months and run a 10k in October as well. I just don't think I'm ready for the 10k on this particular course. Read these reviews of the 10k:
"The river was fun, the hills horrendous, the volunteers and refreshments awesome…The best part of it was that the proceeds went to a great cause.”
- A.L., Silver Medalist, World Cup 100K.
“…the toughest 10k I’ve ever been in … but by far, the most fun I’ve had during a race…It was an exciting race, with some really talented runners…
- W.H., 2005 Overall winner
If a silver medalist is calling this run "horrendous," I think I am probably making the right decision by choosing the 5k instead. I would hate to be wheeled out of the woods on a gurney, ha ha. I was looking at the finish times for last year's 10k. I was expecting to finish the 10k in 90-120 minutes. The winner last year took 37 minutes! I think this way will work out better because I should finish the 5 k in about the same time my friend Michael finishes the 10k-sad isn't it?

Well, you see, he/she was the *silver* medalist exactly BECAUSE of that attitude. LMAO.
Good luck with the hils...and the rivers. Hitting the big 3-0 prob doesn't help much either, right? Messing with you. Can't wait to hear (or read) how it went.
